For Santa Barbara native designer and artist Taiana Giefer, it’s become her mission to create timeless, versatile pieces of art by bringing ancient felting techniques to the modern textiles’ world.
The flexibility of Taiana’s designs and richness of their materials have resonated with high-profile designers, including Helmut Lang, Calvin Klein and Rick Owens, who have since collaborated with her on special pieces using her custom-made fabrics on their runways.
Taiana has since expanded her range from wearables into interior design; namely decorative wall hangings and tapestries crafted by hand from fine Merino wool from sheep raised humanely.

Where’s your favourite place?
My family home in Santa Barbara, California.
Why is this your favourite place?
Nothing but wonderful work and loving memories there. The property is a constant source of support and inspiration.
When and how did you experience the place for the first time?
When I was ten years old, my family on a whim bought the property and relocated us from the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles to
Santa Barbara’s nurturing arms.
Things you usually do when you're there?
Connection and family time, cook, read, soak up the sun and play with the pups!
Is it a place you like to visit by yourself or with someone?
With family it’s wonderful! Alone it’s exceptionally special. To be surrounded by the profound beauty, memories and love that lives within all the plants that have grown with and around us as well as all the members of the wild animal kingdom that live on the property.
